Why
We used to make a lot of clothes in the US, but today not so much. We wanted to be part of helping to bring that industry back. Now you can too …
It isn’t easy these days to find clothing made right here – but we’re working on it.
This specific journey started with a question: why is so much of the stuff sold these days just not that good? We particularly noticed that the thrift store pants from the 1980s and 1990s were way tougher for bouldering sessions - and generally knocking around in the outdoors - than the pants other companies are selling today. Plus, almost everything outdoor retailers sell these days is manufactured 6,000+ miles away.
It took more than three years and many rounds of prototypes to get to what we felt was a good pair of pants. Now we’re excited to share them with you! We’re also creating a growing range of other items to help you get where you need to go.
Like the pants, creating all our products has been a multi-step process, iterating with materials, construction, and fit to get the best possible outcome. We’ve also rigorously and relentlessly tested these products to make sure they’ll work for you.
All of our products contain recycled and/or organic materials. (Read more about our commitment to organic here.) All products are proudly made in the USA. Others may make stuff overseas where there are minimal environmental rules and few get a fair wage. Not us. We’re focused on minimizing our environmental impact - so when things get made closer to you that’s less carbon footprint. We’re even using recycled products for our mailers.
Maybe most importantly, we think our stuff is awesome - and we're stoked to be able to share it with you!
We’re also super excited to support other organizations that are doing amazing work in and for the outdoors, including the following:
- The Access Fund
- Winter Wildlands Alliance
- 1% for the Planet
